Hi Folks

Thought I would run through my install of COD4, It is long but you can skip what you need to.

Up to 4:36 is just the download and then the clicking through of the now redundant Punkbuster at first launch etc. 5:28 then shows what you see in the server list with Steam Version 1.8.3620, a mess really and very small amount. 6:17 shows the download of two files from http://www.oghf.org.uk and the extraction of the pre-update .exe for the Steam Version, this then brings back a larger and more complete server list. 9:13 starts the manual install of the COD4x client, I show a couple of common errors I have found, extracting files into the root and running the install as admin. Basically extract folder into the game dir and double click the install.cmd file and you are done.

At 11:50 I show the full lists and also a couple of suggestions how to resolve
server list issues, deleting the servercache.dat file and making sure the filters are set right in the server browser.

Finally at 17:15 I show the location of the data folder that if you have installed before and failed should be deleted. You may have to tick show hidden folders in you view options as by default this folder is hidden.

I am sorry the video goes on a bit, but as I said it is raw and shows that there is nothing special about my install from start to finish. I hope this helps resolve your issues or at least gives you some clues as to how they can be fixed.

Cheers
