dcspurs asking for broadband speed brought to mind my first encounter with the internet. Had a 28.8k modem and used Freeserve to connect at 1p per minute that tied up the phone line. Had do disconnect before 60mins had elapsed and then reconnect to keep it at 1p per min

What about you?

Pretty sure I started at 14.4k before getting 28.8k I do remember my first 56k was a USRobotics Sportster Voice modem lol. Forgotten the name of the early ISP, I was with AOL for about 15 years before they annoyed me enough for me to move.

I had a Tandy (Radio Shack) 14.4k dial up modem on a Radio Shack Color Computer II. Who can ever forget that sound as it connected.

Possibly 56k dial up.
Originally to play a game called Air Attack on BT Wireplay service (was known as Fighter Ace , played in Microsoft zone over the pond)
Was something like 2p a minute for wireplay and 1p per minute for dial up. I remember a bill in region of £600+ for one quarter back in late 90s
Compuserve was my 1st ISP load of numbers @compuserve.com for an email address lol. I still have my Compuserve book that i bought at the time
Was a god send when Freeserve came out. changed all the rules.

As for retro machines. i have
Spectrum 128 +2
C64
Atari ST
Amiga 500 x 2
Amiga 1200
Sega Megadrive
Xbox
Dreamcast
PS1
PS2
Xbox 360
Xbox one
C64 Mini
PSP
Various DS's

I still want Roger Rabbit's CD32 :D
Also on list is Nintendo for most machines and also Sega Saturn and Mega CD

Looks good mate. Do you still use it?

Most of mine stored away. Some on shelves that I do play occasionally

No dont use it anymore. The TV modulator has gone faulty so it is black and white and not colour now. But the opus discovery still works fine. Have it all on ebay. The opus discovery is now rare

The Opus will be worth a good price. £250 if not a bit more. Tempting but beyond me at present.
