I need to match my new Intel i7-6700K LGA1151 CPU with a new (inexpensive?) motherboard to go with . The I bought is not the one I need. Suggestions? Thx.

Good board Mike :) a big step up from your previous build. I have one that a recycled into my server when I upgraded, still going strong never a hiccup.

As to the windows issue, 32bit will run fine as for 64bit you will need a new key.

Yes should be fine. Any problems to activate use the phone number that appears, and tell them you had to replace damaged components ;)

Should say as an afterthought Mike. When you can, treat yourself to Samsung 970 evo plus M2 SSD 500gig as a boot drive. You'll be impressed. Finish the build nicely :)

Good point grey, you could always opt for a 240gb ssd to keep cost down. This is plenty big enough for the operating system. I have one and my pc boots up in 11 seconds

OK so the used, "like new condition" board got here today. CPU socket looks like some bent pins. What do you think?

That looks knackered m8. You could try straighten, but I don't think it will help to be honest. Someone tried to jam the CPU in the wrong direction by looks of it :o

I did send the seller an email telling them that some of the pins in the CPU socket are damaged and the board is unusable. I have to wait for them to reply before Amazon will kick in.....61 yrs old and I'm STILL learning lessons!

So please refreash my memory and paste a link to ANY board I can use with my new/old processor please. I got a headache...

Hope you get it sorted Mike.
I would be looking at a Z170 board Mike. H110 are more workstation focused. As your CPU is a K version a Z170 will give you more options.

The 1st board mad posted is decent and a good price, but another option here.

OK the seller/Amazon has agreed to a refund. I ordered the MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING R6 SIEGE LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s from new egg. Will be here from China in 6 -16 days... I'll be back. Thanks again.
